Kevin Beasley Lives/ Works/ Eats/ Plays/Prays at the Emerson Street House

Diane met Kevin and his then wife Rosie Day at the bar at the Eagles Lodge, 4904 SE Hawthorne Blvd, Portland, OR 97215. Diane was wearing her FUCK OFF pin, which started the conversation. The Eagles Lodge, a conversation for another day.

Diane was invited to the annual Oregon Film History Conference, presented by the Oregon Cartoon Institute, on May 3, 2019 at Lewis and Clark University. Diane invited Kevin to accompany her and they had lots of time to talk. Rosie was going to be “on assignment” in rural Oregon for six months and Kevin needed a place to live. Diane was returning to Florida and she needed a caretaker for the Emerson Street House.

Kevin, a Navy Veteran, was a full-time student on the GI-bill at the University of Oregon, picking up side gigs as a videographer. Kevin also became the Post Commander of American Legion Post 134 on Alberta Street and brought music back into Post 134. Kevin played drums.

We are grateful to Kevin Beasley for helping complete the Living Community Challenge of the International Living Future Institute.

Kevin lived at the Emerson Street House from September 2019 to June 2020 when he moved to Dayton, Ohio.
